Seasonal transportation by inland water ways of Russia have an essential advantage over delivery of similar cargoes by European routes. It takes 6 days less for a ship loaded with 5,000 tonnes of cargo to cover a distance between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea as compared with the route around Europe (1,100 miles less).
