North-Western Shipping Company offers sea and river transportation of a wide range of dry bulk and general cargo by international and domestic routes.

Key cargo flows

Ferrous metal

From river and sea ports of the North-Western Region of Russia and river ports of the Volga Region to the ports of the Baltic states, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, the Great Britain, Spain. Portugal, Italy, Turkey; from the Netherlands to the Baltic Sea ports.

Grain

During summer navigation period, grain is exported from Russian ports of the Azov-Black Sea Basin to Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Greece, Israel, Italy, Spain and Morocco.

In winter, grain is transported from the southern ports of Russia to Morocco, the Netherlands and Germany.

Grain transportation by NWSC vessels from Russian ports of the Black and Azov seas with further transshipment to seagoing ships (lighterage) make up to 40% of the company’s total cargo turnover.

Mineral fertilizers

Exports from seaports of the North-Western Region of Russia to the ports of the Baltic states and Poland, transportation between foreign ports of the Baltic and North seas.

Timber

Timber is exported from Russia and also transported between the foreign ports.

Up to 60% of timber flow is made by exports from river ports of Russia’s North-West to the ports of Northern Europe and Scandinavia.

Metal scrap

Metal scrap is mainly exported

— from the Baltic Sea ports to the Baltic states, Northern and Southern Europe;

— from the ports of the Azov and Black seas to Spain, Italy, Turkey;

— from the ports of the Volga and Don rivers to Turkey.

Coal

Round-the-year exports of coal from seaports of Russia’s Southern Region to Turkey and Bulgaria.

Apart from main cargo, NWSC vessels deliver construction and chemical cargoes, compound animal feedstuff, manganese and iron ore, non-ferrous metal, clay and aluminium silicate.
